What is the Referee Committee?

The Referee Committee currently consists of seven (7) state and territory referee representatives and one (1) board member - whose role is to oversee the functioning of the committee and act as a direct pathway to the Board. Committee members act to ensure that referees within the Association are fully accredited and have up to date skills and knowledge to officiate at a state and national level.

Purpose

Recognised accreditation has become a basic prerequisite for aspiring referees in Australia to officiate at Taekwondo Australia endorsed state, national and international events. The Committee ensures that accredited referees maintain their professional status through continuous education and officiating.

Referee Committee Key Facts and Roles

The Committee’s Role is to:

• ensure and protect the integrity of the competition process and the physical safety and trust of the athletes

• develop Taekwondo Australia referees at all levels through education, standardisation and practical application

• certify and promote referees using a systematic approach based on merit and diligence

• ensure a fair and firm competition environment for athletes in pursuit of competitive excellence

• be a voice for referees, providing honest and confidential support service in association with Taekwondo Australia and relevant Committees.

• actively promote Australian Taekwondo referees to the community
