What is the Tournament Committee?

The Tournament Committee currently consists of three (3) representatives and one (1) board member - whose role is to oversee the functioning of the committee and act as a direct pathway to the Board. Committee members act to ensure that all national selection events and tournaments are professionally managed.

Purpose

Professionally run, fair and equitable tournaments and selection events are recognised as a requisite for the selection of Australian representative teams to contest national and international events. The Committee ensures that all tournaments and selection events are conducted in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures and where appropriate within agreed terms and conditions with the controlling authority such as the Australian Olympic Committee and the hosting state.

Tournament Committee Key Facts and Roles

The Committee’s Role is to:

• liaise with the National Sports, Referee, Technical and Coaches  committees and the Athletes Commission in regard to the organisation and running of TA accredited national tournments and selection events
• manage the 'whole-of-life-cycle' sparring and technical tournament and selection events from site selection to publication of results

• develop continuos management improvement initiatives through the implementation of state of the art Information Technology systems

• ensure a fair and firm competition environment for athletes, officials and spectators in the pursuit of competitive excellence
